Decloak Music Relaunches a YouTube channel: diving into Ableton and Beyond

At Decloak Music, we’ve always believed that the best way to learn music production is to work alongside someone who understands your goals. Since 2014 our one‑to‑one mentorship programme has helped hundreds of producers—from complete beginners to seasoned artists—turn ideas into finished tracks. Thanks to more than 11,000 hours of remote teaching and flexible, time‑zone‑aware scheduling, students from Denver to Sydney and even a tiny town in New Zealand have found professional guidance that fits their life. Our lessons are built around you: your genre, your pace and your vision . It’s a tailored journey rather than a one‑size‑fits‑all course, and that’s why Decloak Music has grown into a supportive global community.

Now we’re taking that mission a step further by launching a YouTube channel. Think of it as an extension of our mentoring—an open studio door where you can peer over our shoulder and pick up tips, inspiration and fresh ways of thinking about music production. We’re decloaking the creative process so you can see the real work behind the sounds.

Our first episode: a Detroit‑inspired workflow

We’re kicking things off with something close to our hearts: Detroit techno. On Wednesday 27 August 2025, we’ll drop an over‑the‑shoulder session where Jack builds a techno groove from scratch, drawing on the raw, futuristic sound that pioneers like Juan Atkins and Derrick May shaped in the 1980s. Detroit techno is a unique blend of soulful funk and machine‑driven minimalism—those driving 4/4 rhythms and hypnotic synths that defined a movement. In our debut episode, you’ll watch Jack assemble drum patterns, design synth basslines, and arrange sections in Ableton Live. There’s no narration this time—just the music and the workflow—so you can focus on the decisions as they happen. Later videos will include full commentary, explaining why certain choices were made and how to keep a track evolving without over‑complicating it. It’s our way of showing you the honest, sometimes messy reality of making music.

What to expect on the channel

We want our channel to feel like hanging out in the studio with us—casual, informative and inspiring. Here’s a taste of what’s coming:

  • Ableton Live & gear deep dives. We’ll break down how we use software and hardware together, showing you workflows that can streamline your own setup.

  • Multi‑genre track builds. Watch us put together full tracks in styles ranging from house to ambient. These aren’t flashy showcases; they’re real sessions where you see the problem‑solving and creative decisions up close.

  • Quick‑tip shorts. Short, focused videos on topics like EQ, compression, sound design or staying organised. Perfect when you need a nugget of advice before jumping back into your own DAW.

  • Inspiration deep‑dives. We’ll explore genres and influences—dub techno, deep house and more—and show you how to translate those ideas into your own productions.

New videos will land twice a week. We know that nothing replaces a personalised lesson, but these sessions will give you a feel for our teaching style and hopefully spark ideas for your own projects.

Why our approach works

We’ve always been more than a tutorial site. Decloak Music is about mentorship: working together to meet your specific goals, whether that’s finishing tracks consistently, tightening your mixes, learning synthesis or building a live set. Students choose hours that fit their lifestyle and focus on the genres that inspire them. In an industry flooded with pre‑packaged courses, this flexibility and human connection make a difference. That’s the spirit we’re bringing to our YouTube channel—authenticity over perfection, community over competition.
